How late can they wait?
James River Rapids continue to keep their fans and opponents on the edge of their seats until late in the game. Facing another hungry opponent eager to knock off the #1 team at Monacan last Thursday, the Rapids found a way to grind out a win after five scoreless innings.

Scoring one run in the top of the fifth, Rapids batters fought a stingy Monacan infield that prevented most ground balls from getting past them. The Monacan outfield was equally successful landing the Rapid's fly balls, aided by an Omaha-like inbound wind that held up the lofty pop flies enough to get under them and complete the out.

After 6 complete innings, the Rapids clung to a 1-0 lead before plating two insurance runs in the top of the seventh. With J. Winder on the mound and three Monacan batters later, the Rapids clinched a 3-0 victory and headed into Spring break week undefeated at 5-0. While the team pulled out the victory late in the game, they realize they cannot keep waiting in the games ahead.
